Accept a parcel and close the door? The movement of goods in a company is not that simple. Incoming goods have to be checked and a storage location has to be assigned to them. Or are the colleagues in assembly perhaps already waiting eagerly for the missing parts?
In an industrial company, goods are sometimes delivered that have to be unloaded by forklift truck, or very large finished products have to be loaded onto the truck! Warehouse logistics specialists are responsible for these work steps and much more. They always have your goods under control, whether physically or in your database. Everything has its place and the warehouse logistics specialist knows exactly when which part is needed in which place!

The tasks as a specialist for warehouse logistics

From the arrival of the individual parts and raw materials to the delivery of the finished products: Warehouse logistics specialists accept goods of all kinds and check their quantity and condition on the basis of the accompanying documents. They organise the unloading of the goods, sort them and store them properly in pre-planned locations. Optimal storage is crucial here. When will which part be needed again? How many goods need to be in stock? Do some goods require special conditions, such as temperature or lighting conditions?
Goods that come in must also go out again: In the outgoing goods department, warehouse logistics specialists plan delivery tours and determine the most cost-effective shipping method. They assemble deliveries and pack the goods. They also load trucks, containers or railway wagons, operate forklifts and secure the freight against slipping or leaking. In addition, warehouse logistics specialists optimize the internal flow of information and materials from procurement to sales.

Training and requirements

Above all, warehouse logistics specialists must be well organized and structured, because they must always have an eye on which goods are still waiting, when something is to be picked up or unloaded, and whether the necessary equipment is available at that time. Deliveries and collections need to be well planned. In addition, things can get hectic if a delivery arrives late that is already being waited for, or if a part absolutely has to be shipped on the same day so that the customer receives it on time. The key is to keep calm and not lose track of things!

In warehouse logistics you also have to tackle things, so you shouldn't shy away from physical work.

A good understanding of numbers and mathematics is also necessary for this job.

What does this training mean at W. MÜLLER?

You will be involved in the receipt and dispatch of goods and finished products for Germany and abroad. You will learn how to pick, sort and store our products properly. In addition, you will learn the correct loading and unloading for suppliers / logistics partners in compliance with legal requirements.

We will train you in the use of our ERP software, which is the linchpin for our orders and warehousing. Ideally, you will have an interest in mechanical engineering or production techniques for metal parts, because we are very keen that our trainees are involved in the entire process and production cycle. You will not only work on test orders, but will also be involved in all real operational processes.

A class B driving licence for transporting our production parts to external companies would be desirable.
The German language should be no problem for you to communicate with our suppliers and logistics partners.
