The tasks as a metal technology specialist specialising in machining technology

Metal technology specialists process metal blanks on the basis of finished technical drawings and detailed instructions. You clamp them in holding devices and align them. You then consider the appropriate machining steps and select the right machines. You then bring the workpieces to the desired length and thickness, e.g. using milling machines. Profiles and recesses and drill holes are also machined in.

The working method is always extremely precise. All components must be manufactured with millimetre precision, otherwise they will not fit accurately and could damage the machines in which they are installed. Therefore, monitoring the machining processes is extremely important.

Training and requirements

You have a keen interest in physics and mathematics and work patiently and precisely. It is a dual training, in which the training time takes place partly in school and partly in your company. The vocational school will teach you the necessary background knowledge.

During your training, you will learn how to read and understand technical documents such as technical drawings and parts lists correctly and everything about the various machining production processes. You will also learn how to handle CNC programs and how to determine the correct production parameters. You will learn about suitable machine tools and tools and know exactly which ones to select for which workpiece requirements. You will also learn everything about test plans and test specifications so that you can control the quality of your workpieces accordingly.

You will know all the regulations and safety rules that apply in your company and that are important when working with electrical equipment, and you will know which occupational health and safety and accident prevention regulations exist so that you can work safely. You should have a technical understanding in order to be able to correctly visualize the workpieces that you produce. You should also have good dexterity with your hands and fingers.

What does this training mean at W. MÜLLER?

With us you will put theoretical knowledge into practice. You will learn how to operate our machines and know exactly which settings to use for which production parameters. You will produce workpieces and components for extrusion hose heads and will always be involved in real orders.

You will be shown how to set up your workplace correctly and how to select and use the appropriate tools, materials and aids.

You will mainly work with metal and in our workshop, where it can sometimes be noisy. But you work very practically and are just right if you don't like to sit at a desk all day.

You have the opportunity to gain an insight into all our production processes and other departments, as we have a very open and logically structured production and assembly network.

Legally, there is no prescribed school-leaving qualification to be able to start the apprenticeship. At our company, a secondary school leaving certificate is desirable, but not compulsory. Convince us of your motivation and commitment and possibly do the training together with your secondary school leaving certificate!
